Diospyros virginiana 'Meader' Prohibited to CA The only available American variety that is reliably self-fertile. It was developed by noted fruit breeder Elwyn Meader of New Hampshire. Luscious and rich fruits when they ripen on the tree after the first few frosts, these orange globes hang long after the showy fall leaves drop. Beautiful and tasty!
