Rubus fruticosus x idaeus This heavy-bearing backyard winner, a cross between Aurora blackberry and a tetraploid raspberry, was developed by Derek Jennings at the Scottish Crop Research Institute in 1980. Vigorous, arching, thorny canes produce large, flavorful berries that are very long, narrow and rich maroon when ripe. The flavor is a bit sweeter than a loganberry, with more of a pronounced raspberry character. Tayberry can be grown in a sprawling clump, like a blackberry or a black raspberry.
