Large Live Edge Walnut Bowl

This is a black walnut bowl with a natural edge (bark on).  The rich heartwood blends nicely into the lighter sapwood, which is framed by the bark.  This piece was cut from a crotch, where two main trunks came together.  When growing, this part of the tree has a lot of stress, which shows up in the wood by a strong feathering figure that can be seen on the interior and exterior of the bowl.  There is a knot hole on one side, where a side branch came off the main trunk.  Bowl is 11.5" diameter x 6" high and it has a very open feel to it, so if you use it for fruit or popcorn you feel very comfortable reaching in.  Of course, it is stunning as a centerpiece or decorative item in the home.  Finished with food safe oil and wax. Signed by the artist on the bottom, along with wood species.
