Red mallee bowl

Red mallee burl is extraordinary wood.  The deep red color, complemented by portions of medium tan color, come together with the burl grain structure to make this look like stone or flesh.  Portions of the burl exterior surface ("natural edge") are on the outside of the bowl to give it further visual and tactile interest.  It is finished with food-safe materials and is signed by the artist on the bottom.  It is 11" diameter x 3" tall.
