One pound of Rome Beauty Apples.  Rome Beauties are known for their ability to hold their shape and tangy flavor when cooked, making them excellent for baking and sauce. They are also a good choice for fresh eating, drying, and cider. Discovery: Discovered in 1820 as a chance seedling in Rome Township, Ohio. Originally known as "Gillett's Seedling" before being renamed "Rome Beauty" in 1832.  About the farm:  Nana Mae’s Organics is a small, family-owned business, which grows and produces more than 25 Heirloom varieties on 400 acres of historic apple orchards in Sonoma County. Pictured on the company’s label, San Francisco native Nana Mae is the inspiration of fourth-generation Northern Californian and owner Paul Kolling, who cherishes childhood memories of cooking with his grandmother.
