She Sends me Swinging

An exploration of romanticizing life, this piece reflects a season of deep emotional shifts, self-discovery, and returning to center. Through this work, I explore the importance of living fully in the present, trying new things, and allowing yourself the freedom to rediscover who you are outside of survival and routine.   Inspired by my own experience stepping onto a golf course for the first time, the painting mirrors both exhilaration and isolation. Golf, historically seen as a white-dominated sport, became a space where I was deeply aware of my presence as a Black woman. Yet despite that discomfort, I showed up for myself anyway. That act alone became the heart of the piece.   Rendered in a classic impasto style, the textured surface leans into romance and nostalgia, elevating an ordinary moment into something worthy of softness, beauty, and fine art. The work serves as a reminder to do things scared, to take up space in unfamiliar places, and to allow yourself the experience of joy
