This tea is crafted solely from young leaf buds, individually harvested by hand to deliver complex aromatics, sweetness, and a beautifully persistent finish. Developed in the late 1930's, Gold Thread Reserve is alternatively known as Jin Si Dian Hong. Jin Si means "gold silk" in Chinese, while Dian Hong means "Yunnanese black tea". The tea was crafted from the buds of the Da Ye (or assamica) tea variety, an indigenous cultivar traditionally used to produce Pu-erh tea.
