Absolute Beginners: Pan Sauce
Our Absolute Beginners classes are all about building skills to cook with confidence - and pan sauces are a great place to start! In this Absolute Beginners class, Chef Matt Stansbury will cover knife skills and then describe and demonstrate the technique for creating a pan sauce. He will break down the method and tools that you need: choosing the right pan, building fond, adding liquids (stock, wine, spirits, cream) and managing heat. Each guest will cook a protein and and sauce. While the recipes differ, the fundamental skills are the same, and you'll use those skills at home to create delicious pan sauces on your own.Chef Matthew Stansbury's resume is long and includes baking, savory dishes and sushi making. While he's a seasoned culinarian, his love of Japanese cuisine has a longer history. Matthew grew up cooking with his Japanese grandmother.
