Sapphire Wildflower Earrings, Fine Silver

Gorgeous rosecut sapphires are in a unique triangular shape, and in a stunning salmon pink color, with flashes of orange. They are prong-set in sterling silver basket settings, and then soldered to fine silver ovals that are hand-crafted from a mold of an actual wildflower sprig.The wildflower sprig is pressed into fine silver clay, formed into shape, and fired in a kiln at 1650 degrees. Uneven edges give the piece a rustic and organic feeling. Once fired, it is polished and then oxidized to bring out the beautiful 3-dimensional plant details. The result is a stunning and versatile pair of earrings that are hand-made and completely one of a kind.Metal clay is made from powdered precious metal combined with an organic clay-like binder and water. The clay acts as a binder for the silver and is burned away during firing. This leaves a pendant that is 99.9% pure silver, in contrast to sterling silver, which is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper.
