71% of the planets surface is covered by water, yet we have explored less than 10% of our oceans. This powerful system produces half our oxygen, regulates the climate, and provides us with food, medicine, and a source of recreation. There are many ways in which we can study the ocean and all its processes including the four main types of oceanography: geological, physical, chemical, and biological. *This lesson will primarily focus on geological and physical oceanography* Lesson Includes: Why we study the ocean, continental drift/seafloor spreading, plate tectonics, geological features of the seafloor, waves and tides, gyres and currents, ocean zones, examples of pollutions.
