Apollo 11 Lunar Module Artist's Concept (1969)

This print caught our curator's eye as outstanding from the many other artists concepts we have acquired. Something about the high contrast, the sublimely minimal, restrained star-and-moon-scape and in the background, along with the grays (reminiscent of textures later popularized in pop-science like Star Wars) used in the body of the Lunar Module give the viewer a feel for the vastness of space and terrain of the moon juxtaposed against the new man-made scientific frontier that is the Lunar Module. The red editorial marks that outline the module serve to "frame" this effect. Print is in excellent condition, save for a crease in the lower left corner. On 8x10" paper.
