An absorbent rayon/polyester inner core is sandwiched between two layers of low-adherent, silver-coated polyethylene net in the ACTICOAT™ antimicrobial barrier dressing. a moist environment at the wound surface is preserved with the aid of an absorbent wound dressing. ACTICOAT™ has antibacterial barrier qualities that are at least 3 days effective. ACTICOAT™ Dressings should be used as a preventative measure to avoid infection. It has been demonstrated that early intervention as part of an infection management regimen lowers the likelihood of infection progression.
