Watchful Eye

This playful trio of elephants includes Kindani and Naleku. Rescued in 2018 after being separated from her family, Kindani faced initial challenges due to flooding and stormy conditions. The vulnerable calf battled pneumonia but, in time, made a full recovery, and developed nurturing bonds with other elephants.  In 2020, Naleku was orphaned at 6 months, after her mother’s passing. Though she was initially restless in her new home, she found solace among the other orphans. The relationships baby elephants form at Sheldrick Trust become integral to their recovery and long-term survival.
