Distant Light

This grade 3 chorale should be within reach for the intermediate/advanced high school mallet player who has an understanding of basic four-mallet technique and sensitive musicianship. Also acceptable for beginning four-mallet players at the college level. The performer should be able to handle intervals of seconds to octaves that gradually shift over an extended length of time. Written mostly in a rolled, chorale style with one 3-measure section of song-like melody, this solo explores relationships between A minor, B-flat major, C major, and D minor to alternate between a beautiful and haunting sense of "Distant Light."
