This is a popular song from the American Civil War written in two parts The Battle (an introduction) and the Return (the main melody).  Written in six-eight time using typical rhythms plus the eighth two sixteen eighth pattern in the mallet trumpet calls. Snare drum should be played with a side drum if possible. Written for middle and young high school.  This will be a requested number by your students and audience.
