Climbing Rope Dog Leash
This leash is handmade in Sheffield, England, using retired British climbing rope with a figure 8 knot and a sold cast metal bolt snap hook. Climbing rope like this is strong enough to hold... well... really heavy stuff. (We can't get precise because there are different sizes of ropes and we're clueless.) Let's just say it's way past what your pooch can pull! Each leash measures four feet long from the top of the loop to the end of the hook. The rope itself is roughly a foot longer, so the leash can be made shorter or slightly longer by retying the figure 8 knot. One dog parent customer told us she loves the leashes, but pointed out that the type of snap hook used for these leashes can stop functioning when it gets sand in it—and we have a lot of sand out here on the tip of Cape Cod. We took her concern seriously and purchased some upcycled aluminum carabiner-style clips. If you’d prefer one of those on your leash, just click the option above and we’ll swap it in.
