Intestinal malrotation is a congenital condition that occurs when a baby's intestines don't form into a coil in the abdomen. This causes the intestines to twist, which can lead to obstruction. Symptoms of intestinal malrotation in adults include:  Intermittent abdominal pain and vomiting Bloating Malabsorption Alternating constipation and diarrhea Intestinal malrotation is most often recognized in infancy. Most infants develop symptoms of acute bowel obstruction within the first week of birth.
