Annual. Physalis spp. 100 seeds per packet. Plants grow 3 feet tall by 3 feet wide. A tomato and tomatillo relative, these plants produce abundant quantities of deliciously sweet and tangy orange fruits encased in a papery husk. They are called ground cherries because the fruits are ready to eat when they drop on the ground. It can be a good idea to place burlap or some other flat fabric on the ground under the plants for easy harvest. Originally sourced from Experimental Farm Network
