This monoprint collage is inspired by Delftware. Each flower has been hand cut and then hand sewn to the paper to create the collage. I am favoring hand stitching my work. The time it takes to sew the pieces of paper together allows me the perspective and time to enjoy the process. I love using labels or old advertising in my collages. What is Delftware? Delftware or Delft pottery, also known as Delft Blue or as delf, is a general term now used for Dutch tin-glazed earthenware, a form of faience. What is Monoprinting? Monoprinting is a fine art printing technique that uses a sheet of glass, or in my case a gelli plate, to transfer a unique image onto the sheet of paper. No two monoprints are alike, and the design created can only be used once ('mono' = single). The art measures approximately 10 inches by 8 inches. The frame is wood, hand painted to match the composition, and is upcycled. It measures 18 inches by 15 inches.
