Feast Day June 16 The Capuchin stigmatist (1887 - 1968) padre Pio of Pietrelcina was born as Francesco Fornione near the small our lady of Grace friary in Italy, and resided at this friary during most of his life. Padre Pio was one of eight children born to the Forgione rural family who was very Pious and dedicated to Christ. In 1903, Francesco traveled to Morcone to begin a new life with the order of Friars Minor, Capuchin.
