Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, CT Event
Join us on Friday, April 22 at the Florence Griswold Museum in Old Lyme, Connecticut for a private tour of their celebrated Bed Rugs exhibit. The quilts and Bed Rugs have been borrowed from the Wadsworth Atheneum, Sturbridge Village. Colonial WIlliamsburg, and a wealth of other historic collections and brought together for this long-awaited exhibit. In addition to the exhibit your visit will include a tour of the Florence Griswold House, often called the cradle of American Impressionism. Florence's father was a sea captain who left her with the impressive and historic home, but no way of maintaining it financially. She began to take in borders in the summer months - artist from the city who were keen to paint the countryside and drink in the woods, the fresh air, and the stunning views of the Lieutenant River that runs right behind the property.
