This is the first Statue of Liberty- Ellis Island commemorative half-dollar ever issued by the United States Government. This coin is composed of 92% copper and 8% Nickel. The obverse of the coin features the Statue of Liberty watching over the New York city sky line with the words "Liberty In God We Trust" circling the top edge of the coin and the date "1986" at the bottom with the mint mark "S" present above the sky line. The reverse of the coin presents immagrants looking at the New York sky line from Ellis Island with the words "United States of America" and "A Nation of Imagrants" circling the top edge of the coin and the words "Half Dollar" and "E Pluribus Unum" circling the bottom edge of the coin.
