Reincarnation Along The Carson
Description Specs Artist: Michelle Marta-Drake This acrylic and pastel painting celebrates the reincarnation of the Carson River following its designation as a California Wild & Scenic River. In 1844, Kit Carson led the first Europeans across what later became known as the Carson River. Subsequent mining left mine tailings, deforested slopes and debased water quality. Since its designation as a California Wild & Scenic River in 1989, the watershed has been reincarnated as new trees grow from old and the area serves as a refuge for both wildlife and people.
