Meet Gary — the gnarly new fuzz/drive creation from EarthQuaker Devices, brought to life in collaboration with Lee Kiernan of the uncompromising UK band IDLES. Born from the bones of the retired Gray Channel® (a key element of Lee’s signature sound), Gary began as a request for a more compact version of that beloved overdrive. But things got weird — in the best way. As the circuit evolved, Gary revealed another side: darker, nastier, and way more unhinged. What started as a straightforward drive pedal transformed into something far more aggressive and expressive. The end result? A bold and chaotic pulse width modulated fuzz on one side, paired with a warm, reactive op-amp overdrive on the other. It’s raw, it’s rowdy, and it’s ready to tear up your signal chain.
