One of Cenedella's first paintings, Behold the Child (1962) displays a naked mannequin staring away from the viewers gaze. In the foreground, not only do you see the reflection of the back of the mannequin, but you also see two books of Cenedella's late mentor, George Grosz: 1) Drawings, and 2) Ecce Homo. This painting was a homage to Grosz, and Ecce Homo (Behold the Man) was considered Grosz's most defining collection of drawings.
