President Richard Nixon was extremely popular going into Election Day 1972, and as such, he won his second term in 1972 vs Senator George McGovern (D, South Dakota) with an overwhelming 520 electoral votes; however, in 1973-74, Watergate got the better of his Presidency. On August 9th, 1974, Nixon was forced to resign the Presidency in disgrace, and remains the only U.S. President to have left office before the end of his term. With the Watergate scandal dragging his poll numbers from all time highs, the Nixon Hostility Board was born. This, of course, was preceded by the popular Johnson Hostility Board from 1968.
