Fatal Beauty - The first time I went to Pemaquid Point was on a balmy summer day. A throng of tourists explored the lighthouse and a few ventured down to the rocks that crawl in ribbons to the ocean. I heard a tale that day of a man who got swept off the rocks by a rogue wave. By the time they reached him he had perished from the bitter cold water. There is always something menacing about the surf at Pemaquid Point - even on the calmest days.
