It is such splendor to witness the tightly closed Mayapples emerging from Winter's browned dried leaves in the months of April and May in the woods. They are like closed umbrellas opening up to the signs of Spring rains, unfurling delicately into a silver dappled shield for a happenstance woodland frog to hide or to just majestically shade its own feet.
