Handbound Journal with Engraved Wood Cover of a Sunflower - Botanical Print Journal
Handbound Journal with Engraved Wood Cover of Sunflower - Botanical Print JournalThese little books comprise three of the things I love to work on: hand binding books, drawing flowers and working with watercolors. I drew these flowers, and loved the prints so much that I decided to generate a little three flower series of hand bound books. Once I engraved the wood with the botanical prints, I decided to add color with watercolors. The wood is sealed with a nature friendly beeswax based finish. I used a coptic stich in waxed linen thread to hold the book together. This type of stitch was first used around the 2nd century AD in the eastern Mediterranean basin, the Egyptian Copts used it to bind sheets of papyrus. The books open completely flat.Number of sections: 6 Number of pages: 192 Paper weight: 32 lbPaper color: White - blank pagesHeight: A little less than 7 3/8"Width: 5 9/16" (just a little more than 5/5")Thickness: 1 1/16"Materials: paper, woodOnly 1 available
