Second Grade Spelling Lists That Make Sense

Working with word families is an effective way to get kids reading and help them learn to decode longer words. This book of spelling lists combines word families and spelling patterns that are important for children to learn in order to become lifelong spellers and readers. Kids also learn to apply the skills they have learned to new words. These lists introduce a pattern and 5 words that follow that pattern. Children are asked to practice these and be ready to write 5 new words that follow the same pattern. High frequency words are also introduced each week and are added to a word bank at the bottom of the list.
