Snow Mountain Series (Machine Spun)
Yak down is a relatively new fiber in the Western market. For centuries, Tibetans have used the thicker "guard hair" of the yak to weave ropes and weave material for their nomadic tents. The yak also has a layer of fine fluff, which can keep warm in the sub-zero temperature of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. With an average micron count of 15-18, these down fibers are softer than cashmere or camel hair. Yak down is hypoallergenic and does not itch like wool and other coarse fibers.Warm and breathable, this luxurious fiber can be spun into beautifully soft yarns. We use 100% Tibetan Yak down in all our yarns and garments. Our machine-spun yarn is only available in Spring Light (approx. 210 yards/100g Gauge 28 rows/18 stitches Needle size US 7/4.5mm)
