
Bridging the Gap or Bridge Over Troubled Waters
An Integrated, Interdisciplinary, Thematic Unit on patterns as shown in mathematics, science and humanities. President Theodore Roosevelt said, "To educate a person in mind and not in morals is to educate a menace to society." In the past twenty years, California, as well as other states, experienced many economical, political, and sociological challenges that lent itself to the subtle deterioration of the moral fabric of young adults. This integrated, interdisciplinary unit on reading, literature, geography/history and the visual arts is designed to give students a basic understanding of the economic, political, social and humanistic impact of the past twenty years. It was during the past twenty years that young people of diverse cultures were consistently waging a personal war in hopes of gaining the American Dream through equitable pay, educational opportunities, equal rights under the law and a sense of self-esteem and security.
