The Meteor Cherry is a genetically dwarf tart cherry that reaches approximately 8–10 feet tall at maturity, making it an excellent choice for home gardens and smaller spaces. This self-fertile variety begins producing fruit just 2–3 years after planting and does not require a second tree for pollination, though nearby cherries can improve yields. Trees have an upright to spreading habit with a mature spread of about 8 feet and a low canopy clearance of roughly 2 feet, allowing planting beneath power lines. Meteor produces large, glossy, bright red cherries with clear, yellowish flesh and a classic tart flavor. Fruit is well suited for pies, sauces, juice, baking, and fresh eating. Heavy crops are common, with mature trees capable of producing 50 pounds or more per season. Bloom occurs in early April, followed by mid- to late-season harvest.
