A charming mid-19th century pair of Staffordshire poodles with pups, made circa 1850s–1870s. These hand-modeled figures were favorites of the Victorian mantel, with textured fur created using a clay “sprigging” technique to mimic curls. They rest atop deep cobalt plinths and feature endearing expressions, making them irresistible to collectors. As is typical of early Staffordshire, they’re unmarked and delightfully imperfect—each one slightly unique.
