Cristos de Limpias | Antique Plaster Bust of Christ with Glass Eyes

I run into plenty of religious statuary in my travels, but this bust of Christ proved irresistible to me for its wonderful glass eyes. They lend the piece an eerie humanity lacking in most busts of this kind. This is fitting, as Christ is depicted here as “Cristos de Limpias” or “The Holy Christ of Agony,” in his final moments on the cross.
