This ethereal beauty is Astarte from Lord Byron’s poem Manfred: Not the goddess Astarte; this is the name of the title character’s lost beloved. He uses spell casting to raise seven spirits to aid him in forgetting her- to no avail. She is inspired by Byron’s half sister Augusta. Less said about that relationship the better! Presented in a very fine, heavy cast iron art nouveau frame with glass dated 1883. It’s not fitted to hang: It would have sat table top but the bottom prop is missing. The frame was so exceptional I just did not mind. I would hang it from the two openings at the top center! Refer to photos for size.
