Kale, Scarlet
Kale is an all-around great annual leafy green to have in your garden. With so many varieties, there is sure to be one you and your family will like. They are quick to grow, easy to maintain, and have a cut-and-come-again growth habit (our favorite). This allows it to provide for your family over a long growing period. One plant can go a long way. Get a few varieties and you're set for kale for the season! This scarlet kale variety can easily be grown for its ornamental qualities just as much as its taste. The plant will grow narrowly and tall over its growing period. A stunning red, purple, and green color is presented in every leaf. Its curly leaves give it texture. We love to grow this variety among our flowers, like calendulas and marigolds. Days to Maturity: 50 days Plant size: 24”-36” tall Plant spacing: 12-18” apart for mature plants, 6-10” apart for baby leaf Sun, soil, and water requirement: Kale prefers sun but can get as little as 3 hours of sunlight a day and be just fine.
