WALKING THE VALLEY THROUGH

The first of this series, Fluid Threads, was painted on site looking into the valley between Lacoste and Bonnieux. This section of the Luberon is a tapestry of vineyards, lavender fields, olive groves, and other agricultural sections that farm asparagus, leafy greens, and many other local produce. Painting in the crisp sun drenched fall weather naturally dictates the intensity of the light that is reflected in transparent washes throughout these paintings. As unexpected as these landscapes of Provence are, I am working at capturing the essence of this beauty as it relates to my purpose behind the meaning of this particular series. With each brushstroke, a view becomes clear, and I am lost in the overwhelming beauty that surrounds me.To illustrate the land with time, light, and color in their various changing qualities, has generated a response that invigorates the hand that records, through the eyes that see, by the heart that yields to this “Beauty Again” and again, and again.
