They began play in the shadow of the construction of what would become The Astrodome in a temporary ballpark called Colt Stadium. Harry Craft managed every season for the team and despite talent on the roster, they never had a winning record. As a result, the team finished last in attendance in two of its first three seasons. Colt Stadium and the Colt 45's name were abandoned when the Astrodome was completed. The old stadium was eventually dismantled and the parts used to build two other stadiums in Mexico.
