They finished in last place in each of their first four seasons, but finally put it together in 1924, finishing in first. The players, however, were upset that the league had added 6 games to the schedule that season and they were not paid for the extra games. When ownership would not pay up, the players went on strike and were not allowed to play for Lord Stanley's cup. The Canadiens were declared league champions and the Tigers never played another game.
