The team had a winning record and made the playoffs in every season, leading to great fan support despite competing directly with the North Stars. Unfortunately, the same large salaries that kept the team competitive caused the team to fold during the 1975-76 season. A new Saints team replaced them the following season when the Cleveland Crusaders moved to St. Paul. Though they kept the same logo, the new team changed its colors from blue and gold to red and gold. The new Fighting Saints, however met the same fate as the original squad and folded during their only season.
