They were owned by Edward DeBartolo Sr. whose son owned hockey's Penguins and football's 49ers at the time. It was rumored the nickname was derived from the senior DeBartolo's main business; shopping mall development. The team only sold out one game, when former Steeler Cliff Stoudt came to town as the Birmingham Stallions QB and was promptly pelted with snowballs. Despite drafting Heisman winner Mike Rozier in a draft that later proved to be rigged, the team only won three games. In 2022, the name was revived for the new USFL, but that team was not included in the merger with the new XFL that formed the UFL. Notable Players Mike Rozier Glen
