This painting is inspired by the “Hall of Two Sisters’ or “Sala De La Dos Hermanas” an essence of opulence in the Alhambra. This room houses the Muqarnas Dome. The ceiling of the dome is covered in 5000 carved and ornamented Muqarnas and has a star in the center in honor of Pythagoras well-known theorem. This kind of ornamentation is significant in Islamic architecture because it conveys the vastness and complexity of the Islamic ideology. The viewer would look upward (towards heaven) and contemplate it’s beauty and the downward hanging muqarnas represented god’s presence over the physical world.
