Utah artist McRay Magleby, working with Tibetan artisans in Nepal, has created a knotted rug reminiscent of Mexican serapes in its emphatic geometries and brilliant hues of red and coral. McRay Magleby A professor of graphic design at the University of Utah, Ray Magleby is an artist of many talents and multiple media. In addition to paintings and drawings, he's created sculptural designs for the Utah Governor's Mansion and a stained glass window for the Provo public library. For his rugs, he turns to archetypal ethnic motifs for inspiration, adding his own sense of color and form.
