12" Wooden Ruler made in U.S.A. of American-grown basswood. This ruler celebrates important players on the American side before, during and shortly after the Revolutionary War in which the English colonies on the East Coast of North America gained their independence. It does not mention King George III or any members of the British military, nor does it mention any colonists who were sympathetic to the British cause. Patriots were colonists who rejected British rule and declared the United States of America as an independent nation in July 1776. Samuel Adams (1722-1803) has been called the "Father of the American Revolution" because he took an early stand against Britain rule. His writings and speeches drew many other American colonists into the fight for freedom. Crispus Attucks (1723-1770), of African and Native American descent, is widely regarded as the first casualty of the American Revolution when he was killed in the Boston Massacre in 1770.
