The Boot Introduced in the early 1900s, the Wyman was originally known as the Chief. At the time it was Russell's most popular boot and was worn by Charles Lindbergh among others. The high top was designed for protection against brush and briars while hiking, fishing, and hunting. In the early 1980s, Wyman Meinzer had the style specially made and updated for his work as a trapper and later as a professional wildlife photographer. Wyman Meinzer is the only official State Photographer of Texas, named so in 1997 by the Texas State Legislature and then Gov. George W.
