Cartier Santos Carrée Burgundy ref.2961 de 1979

In 1978, Cartier redesigned and renamed the Santos de Cartier, giving the watch an integrated bracelet instead of the traditional leather strap. Cartier made the case and bracelet from stainless steel, a true departure for the Maison, which had only worked with precious metals before this time. The following year marked the 75th anniversary of the Santos model, so Cartier decided to launch a special edition to commemorate this anniversary by giving the classic Cartier Santos a Wine Red dial and a Ruby cabochon instead of the classic blue Sapphire cabochon, ornamenting the watch with the Maison's classic red tones. This model not only differed in its colors but also in its finishes, as it was the only Santos Carrée model to incorporate a satin finish on the watch's bezel, giving it a distinct appearance.
