WWll Era Ice US Army Ames Ice Ax and Pitchfork c.1940s

ABOUT Sold as a pair. U.S. Army WWll Ice Axe manufactured by AMES. The ice axes were issued to the legendary 10th Mountain Division. The base of the shaft has a steel cup with spike marked U.S. AMES. Pitchfork is hand forged steel and wood.  CREATOR Ames US.  DATE OF MANUFACTURE c.1940s. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES Steel, Wood. CONDITION Good. Wear consistent with age and use. DIMENSIONS Ice Ax: H 37 in. W 12.75 in. D 2.5 in., Pitchfork: H 42.5 in. W 9 in. D 3 in.  HISTORY Unknown.
