Lake Tahoe Altitude Specialty Course Sept 18th, 2021
After a detailed Altitude diving briefing, divers will complete two dives under the direct supervision of a PADI Altitude Diving instructor. Divers must complete the altitude diving section of the advanced open water manual or eLearning. Lake Tahoe is cold water diving. It can be completed in the same wetsuit as one would dive in Monterey. Drysuits are also popular. Surface temps can be up to 70° in the summer, but don't let that fool you. Lake Tahoe has incredible thermoclines. At depth the water will be easily as cold as Monterey, or colder. Divers must arrive at altitude no later than Saturday morning for Saturday afternoon diving in order to acclimate to altitude. Since there is no way out of Lake Tahoe without crossing a pass, divers must wait a minimum of 6 hours after diving and be DCS symptom free before leaving the Tahoe basin. Staying overnight after diving is recommended. Rental gear is not included. A package can be rented/reserved by clicking here:
