By Irka Mateo Handbuild | Low fire clay | Underglazes I came across a unique ancestral piece on display at the Museo del Hombre Dominicano in Santo Domingo, Kiskeya. This artifact resembles a whistle double vessel from the Andean indigenous cultures in South America. I found it fascinating and decided to recreate it adding a missing part of the piece, using my imagination. I also placed the whistle to create a sonic being. My intention was to explore the potential cultural connection between these two distant indigenous groups. After recreating this piece, I understood how much respect is needed when handling this piece. It has the potential to enrich and deepen ceremonial experiences, helping to access non-ordinary states of consciousness when used purposefully. This unique, one of a kind, piece is the first in a series of 10 pieces. There will only be one available. Dimensions Height: 5.8 “Wide: 5.5”Depth 5.5 “
